Willow Grove, 'the town that drowned'.
Willow Grove was located on the banks of Irons Creek and was named for its many willow trees. Despite being a little town, they were home to one of the largest schools in the area. Unfortunately, despite many protests, in 1942 the town was forced to evacuate so the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District could build the dam and create what is now Dale Hollow Lake.

The school can be seen best in the fall when water levels are lowered. It remains a popular spot for divers.
